I think this is the right building but heard that Rexall on Wellington and Parkdale is to shutdown Feb 28th with most staff moving to the Holland Cross location.

Per Cobalt on Rail Fans Discord, Leiper said the current buildings will be demo'd in April and excavation will begin mid-summer
It looks like demo is about to start

I do wish there was a way to reclaim some of those materials.

Workers are stripping down the interiors. I saw one worker in a hazmat suit. I believe 2 more bins on site then previous photo. Some trees and other vegetation taken down.

Since these photos, the rounded feature / sign of the church (previous theater?) is now removed. It was disassembled. Looks like most of the critical stuff is out and tear down imminent?

Happy to see this one start so soon after LPAT's approval. Strange how long it took them to reverse the City's decision.

Scaffolding being added to sidewalk on Wellington Street.
Really hope we can get that gas station redeveloped sooner than later. Would be great to have all 4 corners built-up.

Demolition is well underway. Had to squeeze a photo through a tear in a large protective sheet containing the dust and debris. Not sure if visible in the photo but they were spraying down dust with a water hose.

When was the last time we got a Minto highrise? Lansdowne? Westboro? I think they have built both of their awesome midrises in New Edinburgh since the last highrise. Say what you want about their singles and towns, but they never disappoint on their midrise and highrise builds!
Agreed. Another great mid-rise is Bank + Fifth where they managed to 163 apartments while preserving a heritage commercial strip fronting Bank. And of course, Minto Metropole 20 years ago that set a new standard (that very few followed the following decade+). It's just too bad they don't build more.

Scaffolding from demo is all gone. HCM Drill/ pile rig is on site. Took a walk around perimeter. Some Construction Survey control is laid out at all 4 corners noted by orange paint and cut crosses. 2 offset control points set on the East side of Parkdale. 2 main corner points reset on the West Boundary marked by wood stakes. Would appear to be no delay between demolition and construction start.
