Sovietization of OttawaThat looks absolutely terrible. Somehow makes the building look even older and blander.
They painted the saucer burgundy and reclad the mechanical penthouse with some sharp looking silver/white panels. It looks really sharp. I'll grab a pic soon.Speaking of hotels turning chachwhite, the Downtown Marriott; they've painted the brown precast dark grey. I've noticed they've also been doing work to the exterior of the saucer. Sure as heck hope they won't paint that charcoal as well.
I was hoping for more of a Place Bonaventure renovation; add some windows but keep the brown precast that's an integral part of the design language.
They painted the saucer burgundy? Like the whole thing? I saw a strip of burgundy last time, but I thought that they had removed the cladding and the steel was exposed. They painted the saucer burgundy and reclad the mechanical penthouse with some sharp looking silver/white panels. Not the pillars that 'hold up the saucer', but the bands on top of and below the windows on the saucer. They painted the saucer burgundy? Like the whole thing? I saw a strip of burgundy last time, but I thought that they had removed the cladding and the steel was exposed.
So two bands of burgundy and a cleaner/modern top. Should make a bit of an impact on the skyline's overall look. Not the pillars that 'hold up the saucer', but the bands on top of and below the windows on the saucer.
