They are somewhat visible from the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge now. They are filling a huge gap in the skyline looking from the East as well as the West.

RLA is actually capable of decent design. Take a look at The Dale and Soho Italia. I blame the developers more than anything. They seem to love grabbing generic discount designs the 'RLA Black & White Sketchup Randomizer'.

Welcome to the forum! I agree with your sentiment (obviously, being me). Another Nouveau Commie Block polluting the skyline.

More illegal beige brick! I love it. It goes well with the registry office.

I just went through the Urban Design Brief. I think they will knock it out of the park on this one if built as shown. I love the double articulation of the podium and the lower tower, the red arch collonades, the angles. This one will really stand out from the 417 even at 27/25 floors because it...

If and when Claridge builds the 45s tower next to Ascent, we will finally have a defined skyline with some notable variety from this angle.

    Mosaiq Ottawa | 818 Gladstone Ave | 30m | 9s | Ottawa Community Housing | Hobin

I love all the affordable housing here. I just hope they roll right into the highrises.

    Commercial Real Estate Discussion

The old Quickie/First Choice on Rideau is for sale, they are looking for a new development. Zoning is for only 6 floors. I hope we see an ask from the buyer for something taller here, there aren't many better spots for serious density.

Ottawa/Gatineau | Renewal of NCR District Energy System | Innovate Energy | BBB

Fantastic news! The NCC is looking for development on the Quebec lot by the Macdonald-Cartier bridge! That's easily one of the best lots in the region for a signature highrise project.

So they are building the addition, up from 136 rooms to 154, and down from 19 floors to 17. This appears to be the full build out of the site after all.

I had no idea! I just remember it being part of the MBNA campus and then TD after the buyout. I remember this little building at Palladium/Terry Fox being Kanata's city hall before amalgamation. Do you remember any other city halls? Vanier perhaps?

Maison du Citoyen (Gatineau City Hall)

As I said on SSP, I will be very sad if this can't be rehabilitated. This building is a brutalist icon, and one of my favourite buildings in the region. Anyone who hasn't visited should go check it out. The deficiencies are very worrisome, but I think it's worth keeping even if the costs...
