Biked through Wateridge this morning. Ahhh I have so many feelings about this place.

First off, it could have been SO much better. A new neighbourhood of such a significant size, so close to downtown, controlled by the government, should have been developed as a gold standard for urban living. Instead, it's under developed with mediocre architecture and public space. It's also quite car-centric.

It has some redeeming qualities (good density in some places) but considering this was essentially a blanke slate, I'm so dissapointed.

I'll need to get back for a more thorough exploration sometime.

We walk around last winter. A bit sterile. It was quite dead, with only a handful of people walking around. Still better than I expected.

In a few years, with more people moving in and shops opening, it might get better.

I'm not too sure what to make of it... Sure it seems pretty dense but doesn't seem overly inviting or exciting or mixed-use... A slightly higher density Barhaven.. just more of the same.

Could be better, but I don't see a tone of asphalt, good density, decent park system. As far as new suburban Ottawa areas, this is pretty good.
