Reimagining Ottawa's Architecture

I’m not clearly picturing the English wood building on Wellington and Metcalfe - that won the competition. Across from the hill. Anyone please explain how the timber will be incorporated into the build?

I think it will be timber frame as opposed to steel or concrete. Could be wrong.

Here's a very simple project in Calgary, a new 13 floor hotel with 320 rooms near the expanded BMO Convention Centre and NHL Arena (current and future). I can't help but think the Andaz could have been something more like this instead of the ugly box we ended up with (designed around the retention of an 60s office block, but for some reason, the design was kept even though they ended up starting from scratch). And with the bigger podium on this Calgary example, they won't end up with a wall to wall block of underwhelming towers. They're actually preserving space for light and air to get through.
