315 Miwate at Zibi [Block 204] | 74.57m | 23s | Dream | NEUF

Government had a few years to take over, but didn't. Of course it was Harper at the time, and he couldn't care less. I'm sure the NCC would purchase the site now had it still been on the market, but it would be years of planning and consultation before anything ever got done. Best case scenario, it would have stayed an industrial wasteland for another decade or two.

At first I was trying to argue in favour of the private sector, but now I don't know. 😄

Dream may never have established a presence in Ottawa, so no Odenak and potentially local developers would have continued building sub-par designs. There, here's an argument in favour of what we're seeing now.
Some did file legal challenges i think could have scared off any other groups..

you are an optimist

haha fair enough. It’s been taking so long that you have to wonder what the development strategy is. Existing units seem to be selling pretty well so far, so I don’t think that it would have to do with a lack of interest/demand- maybe they think that if they build too much at once, the area would be oversaturated and there wouldn’t be much interest 🤷🏼‍♂️

We'll, what a treat! It's not a CharWhite after all, what's white on the renders is a nice beige spandrel. This is something new for Ottawa.

Oof that's horrid...but a totally different style of building, and the red makes it look worse. I think the beige at Zibi will offer a nice contrast. I love that every building on the Ontario side so far is unique in Ottawa.

I just found this render that shows the beige look,

Does that show beige spandrel or does the lighting give us that impression? In any case, I think it will look very nice. As you said, great contrast with what has been built so far without looking out of place.

The render does not show the chopped up mullion look. I personally detest that style in most cases. Why are there like.. 20 boxes covering just one unit. I see where Dzingle Bells is going with the comparison. If they keep those prominent horizontal bands with a clean one piece look it could provide a very interesting contrast.

Also.. as someone who grouts a lot of tile. That's easily bone and not beige :D

Bone!! Absolutely true, that's a better description.
