Zibi was the most exciting project a few years ago, but now it's secondary to Odenak and the Renaissance. Still glad to see it progress, with one building u/c at any given time.

When they say 'soon new residents will be steps away from shops' are they referring to the audiology clinic, or the water purification supplier? I'm not seeing other shops on the google. This was always a big swing from Zibi, to build out all these units without any commercial tenants. What kind of deals are on offer for square footage, to try to get butts in the seats? There's a certain critical mass needed here, to avoid all the empty storefronts up an down all these buildings. If it were me, I'd be offering 5 year leases at $15/sq.ft., but then carefully curate each tenant. Shoppers Drug Mart, of course, lol, and then two breweries, a fine dining establishment, a fast food joint or two, coffee (or two), and some curio clothing/housewares. Like a mini Almonte maybe?

I can see all of this happening at full build-out. Until then, not enough residents on site and not enough attractions to justify paying for parking/walking from Pimisi or Hull for non residents

Aisle24 is opening soon or has opened, but the space they picked (end of Kanaal Building) isn't visible from Booth. It will probably be years before we see a good combo of critical mass and stronger cross-river pedestrian/cyclist traffic to support full retail occupation. By the end of the decade, when half a dozen more buildings are up, Flata and Arena districts at LeBreton are built up, more population on l'Ile de Hull, then maybe.

As I mentioned in one of the other threads, the Aisle24 stores are only really good for snacks and beverages. If you want real food, then you’re still going to have to drive (or walk) to your local grocery store

It’s a nice new development, but they’re definitely going to have to bonify the commercial space on offer. I’m afraid that in the long term, businesses will want to settle at Lebreton Flats and Gatineau, but will avoid the space within Zibi

The island needs another attraction besides a seasonal zipline. They also really need to focus on the hotel that's planned (integrating the large ruins). A decent sized boutique hotel with absolutely gobsmackingly epic views of Parliament and the Riverscape would bring a lot of people to the island to support more commercial.

They could also focus on events and activation of the space. I remember years ago before Zibi was a thing they used to have events in the old warehouse building which were a hit. Think Canada Day, Winterlude, Bluesfest, etc.
