You mean to replace the cinema complex they scrapped a few years ago, during the period when Ottawa scrapped all of its downtown first-run cinemas? I agree it would be great and would contribute to the revitalization and night-life initiatives, but are any of these being built downtown anywhere?
Who is they: CF? Cineplex for pivoting to VIP? Simons for wanting the space? It's been ten years since the Landsdowne "VIP" opened and theatres are on track for their best year since COVID. Obviously there could be a huge recession or the building could be unsutible but I don't think it's that out of the question given the gap in coverage and the fact that urban format multi screens were being built in numbers through the 2010s.

Wish they had better balcony glass, but overall, it's a decent project. I'm feeling fairly good about the Renaissance twin to Relevé.

Since the balcony glass topic is the 'current thing' on these forums, I am happy to share that the balcony glass at Renaissance will be bypassing the balcony slab edge with a shaded frit section of glass. It will be a step up from the Releve's tin covering the balcony slab edges. Maybe it will lessen the impact of the precast finishes as that is the downside to the Renaissance.
