Ottawa/Gatineau Infill Projects

Saw demo fences at 453 parkdale - the old girl guides building. Found the listing from over 10 yrs ago. Didn't realize the weird L-shape to the lot with parking off Foster.View attachment 615502

Hadn't realized it was also a former funeral parlor.

"The house portion was built in 1899, back when Parkdale was still known as Queen Street. In 1925, the house was bought by Albert E. Veitch and converted into a funeral home. Was known as Veitch & Son, in 1953, a few years after Albert died, became Veitch-Draper Funeral Home. In 1985, they sold and it became Duncan Funeral Home, with the last funeral work being done in July 1989."
This has now been demolished over the past two weeks. Couldn't snap a pic when driving by but can see here from someone else:

Latest addition to the Silver and Summerville buildings.
Devapps

I was scanning through the developers response to the design committee and they were pretty abrupt. Ie. One accessible entrance is sufficient. This is the last building of 3 as one is built and another already underway.

It's a pretty nice project. Fits in well with the existing character of the area. Too bad they couldn't just split the existing house into multiple units. I hope they really do keep the wrought iron fance.
