The conversion looks interesting, but keeping all that parking...

Hope they'll have a master plan for the entire site in the future that includes underground parking.

I'd be more excited if there was a long term goal of removing surface parking.

The window frames are not nearly as trypophobia inducing as they appear in the renders.
When I saw your pic and commented, I thought they were still taking down the original windows. I drive by it regularly and look at it nearly all the time and never noticed the new windows.

Speaking of City Halls and cheapening your City's brand by leasing a "city hall", this was once Gloucester City Hall. They had Ottawa-Carleton regional offices here as well.

I had no idea! I just remember it being part of the MBNA campus and then TD after the buyout.

I remember this little building at Palladium/Terry Fox being Kanata's city hall before amalgamation.

Do you remember any other city halls? Vanier perhaps?

Vanier City Hall from 1972, after the previous one burnt down. The Vanier Police was in that building as well, in the basement until they merged with the Ottawa Police in 1984. What I didn't know is that Vanier City Hall moved again in 1985 to the Richelieu Centre, until amalgamation.

Westboro has the old Nepean Town Hall. Ben Franklin Place was Nepean's last City Hall.

I think Goulbourn's City Hall (which includes Stittsville) was an unassuming brown brick building on Huntley. I'd have to drive down the street to spot it. It's been a while.

I think the Cumberland City Hall was the City of Ottawa offices next to Shenkman Arts Centre. Could be wrong though.

I feel like we need a thread for discussions about former municipalities.
