Lansdowne 2.0

I mean, I think we can all agree the interiors are extremely nice and a big upgrade from the current facilities, but yes... the exterior leaves much to be desired.
True. The arena, inside, will be great. Smaller than it should be, but the fan and team facilities will undoubtably be better. The new arena though will negatively impact the "park" from Lansdowne Park. The site won't have anything new to offer people to draw them in, which is what I thought was the point.

Also, with the whole accessibility talk, I'm not seeing any elevators or ramps in those bleacher renderings. Just a lot of stairs.

More renderings from today's FEDCO.

Is it perfect no but we can't leave it as it is.
Agreed. The idea that we should/could spend that $500 million somewhere else is not realistic. We do need to invest in the Civic Centre complex, fix the roof, major improvement in accessibility, more washrooms. I suspect that a major renovation would be cheaper than the current plan. We could look into adding floors to existing retail buildings, maybe a tower between the Civic Centre and office tower to offset the cost.

My issue is this idea many have on Ottawa/R we should do nothing.

What is so sacred about this spot (orange) ? The NIMY'S had the third tower cancelled here, but I have rarely seen a soul in this section of the park. Why don't we build two forty story towers here in addition to a renovation?

Those trees are being removed for whatever reason, replaced with pavement. The reason why the third tower was removed, and the reason this area would not be considered for additional towers is mostly related to not crowding the Aberdeen Pavilion. I'd assume that a developer would also want to build a parking garage under any towers on that site, which means potential damage to the Aberdeen Pavilion when digging, additional parking entrances and car traffic.

I'm fine with the towers proposed, hoping for twin 40s; I like heights variation in areas with a lot of towers, but if we're just doing two towers, situated behind a football stadium, twins will look more balanced. Any additional towers here removes demand for towers elsewhere. I want to see LeBreton and sites along the O-Train lines built up first.

Why not? Is it just the lack of accessibility? Because I haven't heard any other good reason for this.

Poor insulation
The insulation is bad driving up the cost to keep the rink at the right temp

Portable toilets
They have to bring in portables for big games

Poor ventilation
The ventilation is not good and has not been for some time

Leaks and mold
The roof leaks and mold has become more of a issue the last few years

Not up to Chl standards
Right now it does not meet the CHl standards so big events like the Memorial Cup won't be played here
