General Update/Rumour Thread

Probably just a lack of foot traffic at the moment. The only time I see a notable amount of people going by is during the Tulip Festival. That will all change once the hospital is built.
True, that's a good point. Maybe because the canal brings so much traffic I assumed it was like that 24/7. I really think that intersection has so much wasted potential. Hopefully with the new boardwalk stuff the NCC is trying at Dow's lake, the hospital and overall densification it can become a pleasant area. This depends on Carling not being, well... Carling.

Good points. Destroading Carling would be immensely helpful.

The Convent has been sold to a new owner that's actively working with the City to determine the condition of the structure. Could be related.
So the question is does the new owner of the convent also now own the existing commercial retail units previously owned by Ashcroft Homes/Choo Communities.

Extensive Renovations and minor additions have been going on for several months now at the Subaru Car dealership at Richmond Road and McRae in Westboro. I guess any chance of redevelopment here will not be happening any time soon including the car lot on the east side of McRae.
Subaru and Westboro are a match made in heaven

Not sure if this has been answered somewhere else, but what's with the empty retail space in Icon? Seems like a pretty high exposure location, though im sure it's outrageously priced haha.
Perhaps they could stop using it as a storage area with unwashed windows. I dunno. Last time I went by it looked like a frickin upside down storage container. Just crud everywhere etc.

No clue. Potentially asking an outrageous price. We see that a lot, developers preferring to keep a retail space empty over renting at a more reasonable rate to fill it up.

Strange because Claridge is usefully good at finding retail tenants within a reasonable amount of time.
I should probably learn how to multi quote.

Er. I don't know if I am wrong here and I would love to be corrected but as far as unfilled commercial vacancies go aren't you generally allowed to write it down as a loss? as opposed to renting for cheaper? Creative accounting etc. I swear Wendover Productions or someone similar has a Youtube video about this phenomenon of commercial vacancies.

Basically. Well I expected 30k a month out of it and I aint getting it. As opposed to 20k in pocket and that somehow works out better for them. We are strange ducks.

Wouldn't surprise me. Somebody should probably should eliminate that loop hole.
