This is moving much more quickly than a lot of Richcraft's projects. More developers should take lessons from whatever Dream is doing.
I was involved in this project for a while. From my perspective, something they did well was hiring the right, competent professionals (even if they cost a bit more) and let those professionals do their work. Other developers or public sector clients I have worked with have been much more controlling and take forever to make decisions. Government clients are the worst for this. Endless decision paralysis. This was not the case for Dream.

My two cents.

It IS a lot easier when you don't hire the lowest bidder. The government apparatus of BGIS, PSPC, and endless design reviews is simply a symptom of their procurement procedures. What's the saying... 'sh*t in = sh*t out'? lol sorry I actually can't remember the saying. Same with contractors, so much so that consultants know to inflate their fees to deal with both the bureaucratic bullsh*t and the silly contractor bullsh*t asking for extras and changes to make up their losses undercutting the tender, during construction. If you can handle hiring a competent team from the beginning, the project will flow much more smoothly and with MUCH better results.

What's the saying? You fall down the hole you dig?

Do we have an idea when the podium should start rising out of the ground?

Took these yesterday evening.

I really hope Dream is motivated by this project and takes on another taller tower as their next project in Ottawa. I'd love to see something taller than the Icon come up by them, because at the rate they're going - we'd have a new tallest in no time.

I think it's only a matter of time before Ottawa attracts serious Toronto based developers like Concord, Great Gulf, Pinnacle, Tridel, et al. We have definitely gotten the attention of some major Montreal developers lately. I bet the arena on Lebreton will be the catalyst.

Had the Renaissance been built with the other Relevé Towers, it would have been a huge deal, but with this one so far ahead, it will only be a foot note.
It's okay, it will still be a huge addition to modernizing and showing Ottawa's growth. These ones will be iconic and very unique to Ottawa. Similar to the tower in The Hague which I fortunately got to see last year (a sneak peak of these two!).
