Interesting! Good to see more Anishinaabemowin being incorporated, although hopefully projects like this do more for indigenous communities than just that.

Very rarely do people actually call buildings by their "names" the majority just use the address or describe the building.

Like example:
A-"that one building that's almost 30 stories Downtown"
B-"Which one?"
A-"South of the Parliament"
B-"WTF, they're all the same height!"

Hey, I didn't say it was effective! Just everyone will call this those big red towers, or the ones beside the library.

If you hear someone utter Odenak beside Adisoke you know they frequent building forums.

Big red buildings will be pretty iconic to Ottawa, I'll take it!

The podiums will be really cool. I'm excepted to see those go up almost as much as the towers themselves. The entire project is a huge step up for Ottawa.

Interesting to see how discussion of this project has evolved. When it was first revealed, some were disappointed that it wasn't a giant retro mall covering the entire area between Booth street and the library, burying the LRT in the process. And some are still asking for the west end of the Flats to turn into that with the new arena. Instead the NCC and city are working to make the area a lively outdoor street-level environment with good architecture, art work, and well designed pedestrian routes.

I was one of those people disappointed they didn't opt for building over the station and tracks and/or provide an indoor connection to the library. Still am, to be honest, but still quite happy with the design and function we have now. It will be a true community hub. Let's hope OCH can follow that theme with their project in the middle.
