New Gatineau Regional Hospital | 600 Beds

It's the curse of l'Outaouais: too "Ontario" for the provincial government to actually give a damn

    Gladstone & Loretta | 951 Gladstone | 114.8/136/145m | 34/38/40f | CLV/PBC | Linebox

I believe that wanting a quicker approval process instead of dealing with the city for at least another year is a major issue. But I do agree, there is no view plane west of the CBD, so nothing should prevent a tower going to the 40 or even 50 story mark. I personally believe that much of the...

New Ottawa Civic Hospital | The Ottawa Hospital | HDR

Still surprised by how massive the parking structure is. Just thinking these are only to store cars.

    265 Catherine St (Former Greyhound terminal) | 109.88/116.65/126.7m | 32/34/36s | Brigil | BDP Quadrangle

I moved to Québec. Although grocery prices, gas, and transport are more expensive, at least I was able to afford to buy

    265 Catherine St (Former Greyhound terminal) | 109.88/116.65/126.7m | 32/34/36s | Brigil | BDP Quadrangle

I told my parents that unless housing costs get reasonable in Ottawa, don't expect me to move back
  6. SweazyCavalry

New Gatineau Regional Hospital | 600 Beds

I cannot for the life of me understand why they did not go with Carrière. It's already on the rapidbus
  7. SweazyCavalry

    1071 Ambleside Dr | 96.5m | 32s | Osgood Properties | RLA

At least it's close to Line 1

    Ottawa's Skyline

Well just because other cities are as bad does not mean we should excuse politicians in Ottawa. I'm not clamouring for 20-story buildings everywhere, but I am pointing out that there is a lack of a sprinkle of towers, 10-story, 6-story, 4-story, and du/tri/multiplexes because everything is...

    Parkdale Collective | 159 Parkdale Ave. | 96m | 31s | Richcraft | TACT

Parkdale is getting much better quality buildings than most of the CBD, and especially Rideau. If the quality stays up there, I have high hopes for the results of Tunney's Pastures redevelopment (if the Feds ever get going on it)

    Relevé | 78+95.5m | 23+29s | Main+Main+Westdale+Centurion | Arcadis IBI

I honestly like the contrast between both towers. Yes, we may all agree that Relevé is the better-looking one out of both, but the framing of Relevé with a boxy brick and precast tower instead of another copy or similar glass tower really makes it shine that much more

    Ottawa's Skyline

Well, I was referring to the other sections in blue, not uniquely the golden triangle. But I still can't believe how the neighbourhoods in purple have also been protected from the basic laws of the market. In any free market, these areas would be filled with a variety of housing options, but not...

    Ottawa's Skyline

This view really highlights how the "CBD" is very limited and how small "downtown" really is. If this was another city in Ontario, Multiplexes and towers (big and small) would probably extend south to the 417. All I see are homes and a few plex conversions until Ottawa's Kowloon wall strip

Homelessness in the National Capital Region

This is reminding me of this project in Fredericton: https://globalnews.ca/news/10439576/12-neighbours-community-fredericton-tiny-homes/ https://www.12neighbours.com/ I watched it be built out when I lived there and it has been a lifeline for people. It already helped quite a few get back on...

    Maison Riverain | 2 Montreal Rd. | 76/94/106m | 22/28/32s | Main+Main+Equiton | RLA

It's just a recent re-adaption of those three towers we see in the background
  15. SweazyCavalry

    Azure Westboro | 2070 Scott St. | 83.4m | 26s | Azure | BDP Quadrangle

The skyline west of Downtown is ending up being much higher quality than east of Downtown. I hope the East can catch up to what we are seeing in the West

    Maison Riverain | 2 Montreal Rd. | 76/94/106m | 22/28/32s | Main+Main+Equiton | RLA

This is just disappointing. I thought this was going to be a new step for development projects in Vanier. I guess not.
  17. SweazyCavalry

    Richmond & Island Park | 70 Richmond Road | 36m | 10s | Trinity Development Group | Hobin

Nothing more heritage than the place where we gas up. You can tell which members of the heritage committee drive vs don't.

    LUXO Place | 1178 Cummings Ave. | 27m+115m | 8s+35s | DMA | PMA+Lapalme Rheault | U/C

Taken on April 26th. It is quite imposing from the North. It screams for similar height or taller buildings around it (I mean other projects and not just the other Lux towers)

    Gatineau NCC Shoreline/Waterfront

I'm very much hoping that Ruisseau de la Brasserie plan goes through because kayaking will be quite nice

New Ottawa Civic Hospital | The Ottawa Hospital | HDR

It's unfortunate they did not double-track the section under the parking garage. Doing so at a later date will be a complete hassle.
